Content Management System: Publications Division of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has been bringing out journals (Yojana & Kurukshetra) in various languages since 1951. Division was facing a huge problem in order to preserve the journals / magazines and to make available the precious articles and information contained in these magazines to a wider, modern audience.
AKAL developed a web based Content Management System to digitize past issues of Yojana (English, Hindi and Urdu) and Kurukshetra (English & Hindi) magazines to Archive, Perform Searches, Create digital libraries and Obtain safe backups of Journals that are being published every month in three different languages since 1951. A Web Content Management System was also proposed for creation and uploading of upcoming content directly to the CMS form across the country. |

POD Management: Safexpress provides an unrivalled range of logistics and supply chain solutions including door to door distribution; single source invoicing; reverse logistics; 3PL; statutory obligations management; packaging solutions and e-logistics. Safexpress wants to keep their customer updated about their shipments movement as well as help them to plan the business in a efficient manner. This involvement of the multiple physical Documents like POD’s, Gate passes, Airway Bills etc. to be available online for shipment status trace. Safexpress has all these documents as hard copies from over 550 locations in India. Quantity of these documents is as high as 20-25 thousand per day which needs to be processed in same day leaving a very small time window to execute the process.
AKAL Designed Solution for scanning and Indexing of these documents according to a numeric field “airway bill number” using Zone OCR. Designed solution offered some of the most advanced data capture capabilities. Able to perform forms processing for both paper-based and electronic documents, Application’s sophisticated modules handle structured, semi-structured and unstructured documents and delivered the data into any enterprise information system, including SAP, Oracle and others. |

Pollution Monitoring Application: The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), serves as a field formation and provides technical services to the Ministry of Environment and Forests to improve the quality of air and to prevent, control or abate air pollution in the country. Central Pollution Control Board is executing a nation-wide programme of ambient air quality monitoring known as National Air Quality Monitoring Programme (NAMP) where Desirable Suspended Particulate Matter (RSPM), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Ozone (O3), Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) are being monitored regularly. CPCB wants this information on Air Quality to be updated real-time on their website. AKAL implemented a Real-time data synchronization application) a DTS (Data Transformation System) based solution, which aims to make CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) capable to monitor real time air quality reports available to the millions of Internet users through CPCB’s website www.cpcb.nic.in. This web based Synchronization application covers the following:
- Obtain the RAW data from monitoring stations on specified interval
- Decode / Convert the data in suitable required format
- Inspect the results for faulty or erroneous values
- Update the latest values of air quality data in database server
- Synchronies the data to the CBCB’s website with the help of DTS
- Generates Reports and Graphs

Data Centre Setup: Directorate of Standardization, Ministry of Defence awarded us the responsibility for supply, installation, commissioning, and successful running support and maintenance of the 24/7 data center that hosted their Content Management Application and online web portal. The responsibility further included Planning, Designing, Implementing, Configuring, administrating, Optimizing, troubleshooting of the IT infrastructure, Cisco routers, Cisco Switches, Checkpoint, Pix firewalls, Intrusion detection systems and auditing the same, security Policy implementation, vulnerability analysis, Network monitoring, Content security system support, and maintaining an onsite team of Engineers & Senior Engineers, to provide service delivery to the required service levels, in LAN, WAN and Microsoft networking environment. |

Wide Area Network: DLF Ltd, hired us to setup and implement interconnectivity between the Head office and all the Branch offices of DLF Universal and to further support its growth needs for the years to come. Akal's responsibilities included supply and implementation of server and related appliances, installation of networking equipments including Cisco router Switches and other Network Devices, Interconnectivity through VPN and mpls leased lines, security Implementation of all the three level of security using Sonicwall, Barracuda and Trend Micro products, configuration, Management and 24/7 Support for Microsoft Exchange Mail Servers, proxy cache over VPN and it's users, FTP Servers and Microsoft Project Server. |

Decision Support System: Project Tiger Directorate, a Government of India Enterprise, hired AKAL to develop a .NET based custom application to budget finances, track all the budgeting sanctions made each year for each reserve and actual expenditures made at the reserves. The Web Component of the solution was devised to collect data from the various 27 Tiger Reserves of last 30 years however a central DSS Application compiled and processed the data to produce multiple criterion reports to assist Headquarters in precise budgeting allocations to be made under various heads. It thus helped the officers to take rational decisions backed by years of experience and objective data analysis. |

Payroll management System: Delhi Development Authority is a government authority undertaking the construction & allotment of residential and commercial spaces in Delhi. The organisation was working on a legacy dBase payroll system with outdated technology and functional drawbacks to support present and future requirements. With the help of the DDA staff AKAL provided the expertise to do a complete study and scope definition of the requirements. Our consultants assessed the current reporting and analysis environment and associated shortcomings and bottlenecks. Available and desired data sources were analyzed. Based upon the extensive research conducted, AKAL designed and developed an intelligent payroll system that provided the solution to DDA's known problems. It also took considerations of what ma y arise in future including the dial up connectivity among the other DDA campus buildings associated in the city. |

www.bsi.gov.in : AKAL was hired to develop the Official Website of Botanical Survey of India, Ministry of Environment & Forests. BSI is an institution of international repute in the area of biological resource assessment in terms of occurrence, distribution, ecology and economic utility; conservation; environment impact assessment of plants. And with this AKAL has consolidated its position further as a domain expert in the field of IT solutions for environmental agencies. The site IS an excellent source of Botanical information for the subcontinent. The site has a main BSI site, 9 BSI Circles Micro sites, a huge Botanical Database of plants and publications and many interactive sections like guestbook, feedback forms, chartrooms, discussion forum and much more. AKAL Has produced a website that talks about the department & its achievements on one hand and educates the people on the flora found in the various parts of India on the other hand. The site has something for everyone be it research scholars wanting to know the facts & data about flora or the tourist wanting to visit botanical gardens of India. |
